Each October government and industry leaders vie to see who will win one of the coveted FedScoop 50 Awards.  The awards, which recognize innovation and leadership in IT within, and in support, of federal agencies, are a fantastic way to mark the achievements that sometimes get lost in the push to meet the mission.  With categories from the Golden Gov award to the Disruptor of the Year, the awards recognize achievement at each career stage.

This year, we’re more finely attuned to the FedScoop 50 Awards as our own Rob Stein, Vice President of Public Sector, is nominated in the Industry Leadership category for his work in supporting the work of our government partners in data storage and security.  For Rob, the success of NetApp’s partnership with government agencies starts with understanding what customers are trying to achieve.  Following Rob’s lead the public sector team takes the long view of their relationships with agencies, looking across the needs and trends of the moment to help them set a course that is best for their organization and constituents in the long term.

For the last 9 years, Rob has exemplified what it means to live the NetApp values: trust, integrity, leadership, simplicity, adaptability, and teamwork.   Beyond his official job title, Rob works to give back to the community where our public sector teams live and work.  Rob believes NetApp’s duty extends beyond providing data storage and data management to its customers and makes it a priority to give back through programs like the Holiday Mail for Heroes Campaign.

We hope you take the time to take a look at all the nominees for this year’s FedScoop 50 Award.  The assembled headshots represent men women in the federal government who are driving the mission forward while driving the costs down.  Whether or not Rob wins in the Industry Leadership category, we’re proud that NetApp plays a role everyday in helping agencies become more innovative, agile and effective. Voting is open from October 5th until November 2nd.
