ONTAP Recipes: Provision ONTAP AFF Storage for MongoDB Using Workflow Automation for MongoDB


Did you know that...


You can automate storage provisioning workflows using NetApp OnCommand Workflow Automation (WFA) for MongoDB?


The WFA template for MongoDB provides a guided, automated methodology for provisioning MongoDB storage using the MongoDB vocabulary. The workflow template converts the MongoDB architectural specifications into storage requirements and then provisions that storage.


1. Download and install OnCommand Workflow Automation for Linux from the software downloads section of http://mysupport.netapp.com/.

2. Follow the prompts to download the software and installation guide, and then follow the instructions to install the software and template for MongoDB.

3. Start the workflow to add a MongoDB host:

a. Add a new data center group or choose an existing one from the drop-down menu.

b. Enter the requested information into the GUI, and then click Execute.

4. Start the Storage Controller Details workflow, choose a data center group, enter the requested data, and then click Execute.

5. Start the Provision Storage for MongoDB workflow:

a. Choose the desired MongoDB Scaling Technology (ReplicaSet or Sharding).

b. Enter the requested information into the GUI, and then click Execute.


Repeat this process as needed to provision the desired MongoDB deployment.
