[OneCollect 1.3 on Linux] No "Windows" host option

Hello,

I just downloaded and installed OneCollect 1.3 for Linux.  When creating a new data collection and selecting "Host", there is no option for Windows in the Sub Type dialogue.

Please advise.

Thanks,

Jeff

Re: [OneCollect 1.3 on Linux] No "Windows" host option

Hi

one collect is not just running commands towards windows host.(as it does towards Linux and appliances)  it need RPC and WMI services to be able to collect from Windows. these do no exists on Linux.

Thanks for the response.

It makes perfect sense that we would not be able to collect from Windows using the Linux product due to the lack of WMI / RPC.

However, I didn't see any mention of this caveat in the documentation.

Re: [OneCollect 1.3 on Linux] No "Windows" host option

Hi,

Yes. It needs RPC and WMI services and since they are unavailable on Linux, OneCollect cannot run collection against Windows host from Linux.

Please use Windows build to collect from Windows host.

Thanks for the feedback.  We will add this to the documentation.

Thanks,
