NetApp named “Best in Class” in DCIG Buyer’s Guide for Private Cloud Storage Array

By Jon Jacob, Product Marketing Manager, Platforms Product Marketing

The NetApp FAS3200 family has won additional recognition, this time for leading capabilities in cloud environments. DCIG evaluated 25 different cloud storage arrays from 15 different companies. After all their comparisons, they named the NetApp FAS3250 as Best in Class, with the FAS3220 a very close 2nd (and rated as Recommended).

In the Private Cloud Storage Array Buyer’s Guide, DCIG looked for systems that had the key features that organizations need for their private cloud storage arrays:

  • high availability
  • nondisruptive upgrades
  • reliable performance
  • scalability
  • flexibility to grow
  • easy configuration/management

These capabilities are exactly what NetApp delivers with clustered Data ONTAP running on FAS & V-Series systems. DCIG highlighted that “Small and midsize enterprises will find that the FAS3250 and FAS3220 offer the breadth of features in a single system to meet their various application needs ranging from data-intensive, cost-sensitive applications to performance-intensive, highly available ones…”

For private cloud environments, DCIG also pointed out that “any planned or unplanned downtime or disruption in service at any time for any reason can have potentially catastrophic consequences for the entire business.” We couldn’t agree more.
