Lab reset script for VMWorld 2011


As part of the VMWorld 2011 NetApp booth we ran in booth live demos from the FlexPod on the show floor. Doing so required being able to quickly reset the environment back to base after each demo. To do so, I wrote a PowerShell script that leverages not only the NetApp PowerShell toolkit but also the VMWare PowerCLI. The script, removes VMs that had been created with the VSC Provisioning and Cloning feature during the course of the demo, powers off the remaining VMs from the appropriate vCenter resource pools, performs a Volume SnapRestore to instantly reset the datastores to a pre-demo state and finally powers on the Space Relaim and View Server VMs. Hopefully you'll find this script helpful in your environments, perhaps as a tool for reseting lab environments.
