What are we doing in 8.3 that is resulting in this significant performance increase?

Also, has performance of small block writes also improved? Is there a rough guess at 4k write IOPs vs. reads?

Thanks,

Greg

Information about how random read performance was improved in Data ONTAP 8.3 was shared at Insight Las Vegas this week.  Briefly, read data path what streamlined so that I/O is handled more efficiently with the end result being much higher IOPS throughput at a very low (~1ms) read latency.  Note: This is a LATENCY improvement for higher IOPS, not an increase in the maximum throughput a controller can deliver at a much higher latency.

For more information about performance enhancements in 8.3, please consult your local field NDA presenter or check Field Portal when 8.3 RC1 is released.

Curious to know what your deduplication rates are like.  For us, the AFF is only getting 1.6:1, terrible.  Only runs SQL Databases, which are all very very similar.  We have a Pure device, same types of databases, close to 6:1.
