Cloud Sync for CIFS shares

Based on my reading, Sync Cloud can also support CIFS shares in addtion to NFS.

However, I don't see examples on this regareds, I can see a lot of exaplations on the arctecture of Sycn Coud for NFS.

Does CIFS for Sycn Cloud also need Data Broker, and same architecture? Any documents?

Thanks!

Yes it is fully supported.
Yes, you need a data broker. Can be the same one and use it both for NFS and CIFS.

Based on readings, it cann't support retention and automatically expiration, I think. Then it should not be used as a backup tool Correct?

It is not a backup tool per se. It can easily create a secondary/tertiary data copy, but was never planned as a backup tool. We are adding some features that would make it good for archival use cases.
