Authentication method migration

Hello,

I am in the transit of decommissioning our old NIS servers (solaris 10 sparc based server) but our netapp is still pointing to those servers as the authentication method. As anyone successfully migrated it to LDAP/AD servers without much headache?

Will the transition screw up the file permissions? Considering they're linux based file permission and most of the UID are the same for the same username.

thanks,

For those looking at doing this, I've got my answer. It is seamless (except the fact that you need to restart cifs) and file permission stays the same as far as the UIDs and GIDs stays the same.
