Ransomware continues to be a leading security vulnerability, posing significant threats to organizations worldwide. To stay ahead of bad actors, who continue to advance their techniques, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become essential in stopping them in their tracks. Powered by NetApp’s ONTAP™, Cloud Volumes ONTAP is happy to announce support for Autonomous Ransomware Protection with Artificial Intelligence (ARP/AI), a cutting-edge solution that revolutionizes how ransomware attacks are detected and responded to. How It Works ARP/AI, offered standard with Cloud Volumes ONTAP NAS working environment, can analyze multiple file-level signals simultaneously at unprecedented speed and accuracy, including file binary content, file headers, and file metadata signatures, to detect even the most subtle malicious changes in real-time. With a detection process that incorporates a sophisticated dataset collection pipeline and continuous model training, ARP/AI algorithms evolve, continuously learning from each encounter and becoming more sophisticated over time. By training AI models on vast amounts of data, including both benign and malicious samples, ARP/AI can accurately identify the patterns and anomalies associated with ransomware attacks with more precision. The Power of ARP/AI in Ransomware Detection For Cloud Volumes ONTAP users, our AI-enabled ransomware protection offers several key benefits for NAS working environments: Immediate detection and response: By analyzing data write operations in real-time, ARP/AI can identify malicious encryption behaviors caused by ransomware threats instantly. Automatic alerts and snapshots: If a threat is detected, ARP/AI will trigger an immediate alert and take an automatic tamperproof snapshot. This snapshot can offer quick restoration to its pre-attack state in case the data becomes compromised. Continuous Improvement: ARP/AI models are continuously learning and adapting from new ransomware variants, providing an ever-evolving defense mechanism, by continuously evolving as the threat landscape changes. Enhanced Security Posture: By integrating AI-based detection into NetApp’s enterprise security capabilities, ARP/AI can further elevate your overall security posture. Want more technical insights into the inner working of ARP/AI? We encourage you to read Mesfin Dema’s community blog, NetApp’s ARP/AI is Now Available in ONTAP version 9.16.1, that provides a more technical deep dive into this security capability. Cloud Volumes ONTAP, now with ARP/AI, is a game-changer in the fight against ransomware. By leveraging the power of AI, Cloud Volumes ONTAP provides a robust, adaptive, and future-proof defense against one of the most pressing cybersecurity threats today elevating your security confidence with additional protections against the face of evolving ransomware attacks. In today's fast-paced digital landscape, businesses are increasingly moving their workloads to the cloud for scalability, flexibility, and cost-efficiency. Microsoft Azure, with its robust suite of cloud services, has become a go-to platform for enterprises looking to modernize their IT infrastructure. In particular, the Azure VMware Solution (AVS) stands out for organizations looking to extend or migrate their on-premises VMware environments to the cloud. To further enhance the capabilities of AVS, the NetApp product folks are integrating AVS with NetApp’s Cloud Volumes ONTAP which will provide significant benefits in terms of data migration, consistent operations, and cloud flexibility. Are you an ONTAP customer with existing virtual on-premises block environments who intends to migrate to Microsoft Azure? We are currently seeking these NetApp customers to participate as early adopters of this winning integration! Understanding Microsoft Azure VMware Solution + NetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAP Azure VMware Solution is a Microsoft service that enables you to run VMware workloads natively on Microsoft Azure. It provides a seamless way to extend or migrate your existing on-premises VMware environment to Azure without the need to re-architect your applications or retool your operations. Cloud Volumes ONTAP is self-managed, unified storage software that harnesses the power of NetApp’s flagship ONTAP management software in the cloud. Cloud Volumes ONTAP enables you to easily build storage for mission-critical applications, databases, containers, and user files in Microsoft Azure. And, as a premier block storage solution in Microsoft Azure, Cloud Volumes ONTAP iSCSI support will provide an easy path for NetApp ONTAP customers migrating their VMware block storage to the cloud. Integrating Microsoft Azure VMware Solution with Cloud Volumes ONTAP Combining the Microsoft AVS with Cloud Volumes ONTAP can provide a powerful and flexible cloud storage solution that is especially well-suite for scaling block-based VMware environments to Microsoft Azure, while offering the following additional benefits: Seamless migration. Migrate your VMware block-based workloads to Cloud Volumes ONTAP in Microsoft Azure without the heavy uplift or workarounds. Consistent operations. Manage Microsoft Azure-based VMware with Cloud Volumes ONTAP using familiar processes and tools. Hybrid cloud flexibility. Extend your NetApp on-premises block storage to Microsoft Azure for seamless hybrid cloud Calling on NetApp ONTAP users: The NetApp product team is seeking ONTAP customers with existing VMware on-premises block environments who intend to migrate to Microsoft Azure. Customers with this qualification can participate in the early testing of our AVS and Cloud Volumes ONTAP integration and will receive “white glove” onboarding of this tested solution with the ability to directly influence how the feature will be deployed once publicly available. Hello, We have a NetApp CVO instance deployed using compute engine in our GCP environment. I need to send logs from this instance to Google SecOps. Could you please let me know what options are available? Additionally, does NetApp provide any built-in integrations that allow logs to be sent directly to Google SecOps? Thanks!

Hello Community, I have a question about CVO storage instances and backend upgrade in Trident, recently one of the CVO instances created an aggr and moved a Volume to the new aggr automatically (Capacity Management Mode = Automatic), but a week later, I checked the backend in Trident and saw that the new created aggr was reflected in the Trident backend (lika automatically). my undertanding is.. the only way to reflect a new aggr in trident bckend is updating the backend with a json: tridentctl update backend <backend_name> -f backend-file.json -n trident or Between Trident and CVO Storages, is there a scheduled task to update the backend? Thanks in Advance Community
