Hi German, Are both these DC disaster recovery site for each other ? If so then going for an DR solution, active and passive will be best. When Disaster strikes you can switch over. Also this eliminates the need to manage two OCUM server simultaneously and give a single pane of glass for both sites. On the other hand if the network connectivity between the two sites are not reliable, then go for 2 OCUM server in active configuration monitoring controllers at each site. The reason being, that OCUM uses network to monitor and if thats not reliable you will get false positives. BTW on how to configure OCUM DR refer the following. If your OCUM server is Windows refer the help. http://<OCUMserver-name-or-ip>:8080/dfm Under this Help>General Help Under this Home > Maintenance > Disaster recovery support > Overview of Disaster recovery support If your OCUM server is on linux refer this TR. http://media.netapp.com/documents/tr-3655.pdf Regards adai

Hi Neils, Pardon my ignorance, I am not very familiar with "Terminal Services and Citrix Presentation Server." Can you help me in understanding the same ? How is it different from installing NMC in W2K8 and doing a RDC from Windows 7 ? In our IMT we just mention the Supported OS on which NMC can be installed. I don't think the information you are looking for is available. Also, you can have multiple version of NMC installed in the same server under different install directory and launch them. Regards adai

Hi Sheel, Irrespective of the OCUM version, PM does not delete schedules on ontap for both SnapMirror as well as SnapVault relationships that are imported to Protection Manager. If you notice, the last screen in the import wizard has a message about removing schedules if any. But what surprises me is that BM schedule not triggering job. I do know that we have a check in DFM not to update a job in BM if pm is managing. But I thought that works only for update jobs and not scheduled jobs. But anyways, let me do a test and confirm the behaviour. All in all its always best to remove the schedule to avoid redundant updates. Regards adai

Hi Richard, Can you try the migration once more and let me know if you still face this error ? If you are running 5.1 or later we have Dynamic secondary sizing for mirror. It could be possible that during your process of migration start the destination volume( in case of migrations its the source) got resized. Can you try the suggestion and re-run ? Because the update job resizes the volume on the filer, but the size isn't updated on the dfm database until the dfmonitor run( which by default runs once every 30min) The migration wizard picks the size of the volume from the database and not the filer, so there is possibility that the data in the db could be stale during this time upto 30 mins. Hi I referred the man pages and found the following. httpEnabled: whether or not the DataFabric Manager server provides HTTP services. The default is yes. httpPort: the port on which the DataFabric Manager server provides HTTP services, if enabled. The default is 8080. httpsEnabled: whether or not the DataFabric Manager server provides HTTPS services. The default is no. httpsPort: the port on which the DataFabric Manager server provides HTTPS services, if enabled. The default is 8443. serverHTTPSEnabled: whether or not the DataFabric Manager server provides HTTPS services for Zapi and Soap Clients. The default isyes. serverHTTPSPort: The port on which the DataFabric Manager server provides Zapi and Soap services, if enabled. The default is 8488. AFAIK, http options are used for webaccess and server http options are used for NMC access. Its not that one is global over other. Regards adai

Hi Shailaja, Thanks, thats what we thought and wanted to confirm if its a right assumption. Is this documented somewhere in the WFA so that users are sure and don't think that there is no information on the volume being autogrow enabled or not. Regards adai

Hi, We are trying to create a filter and run a workflow for all volumes where the volumes current size is greater than the volumes Max size. Basically, trying to catch the list of volumes which have grown beyond the autogrow maximum even though autogrow is enabled. In the current storage schema, dont find the autogrow state. Or should rely on the autosize_max and increment_size and interpret autogrow is not enabled if these values are Null ? Terminology: Max size: Auto Grow Maximum size Current Size: Volumes current size returned by df. Regards adai

Hi Rene, The general practice is to have one version of GA and FCS/RC in the support site for download of a product. Starting 5.2 the release model is changed from FCS then GA to RC then GA(similar to ONTAP). 5.1 was a FCS release which got replaced by 5.2RC release. The replacement of 5.1 by 5.2RC has nothing to do with the quality of 5.1 but just a general process being followed. 5.1 can still be downloaded by going to the bottom of software download page and selecting OCUM. Hope this helps. Regards adai

Hi Adam, There is no way using cli (dfpm dataset create or modify) one can choose or change the timezone. The only way I can think of is using API/NMSDK. I am able to see the element time-zone only in dataset-create api. But if you use NMC the same is available via Create and Edit Screens. Regards adai

Hi Muhammad, Probably you owe me a BEER............ for all my response. If we set this now what impact it would have on the existing secondary volumes? No impact on the existing volumes. After setting this option will all new volumes will be provisioned of maximum of this size and will be thin provisioned? If DSS is disabled and this option set, then all new volumes provisioned will be to of the size of this option. By default irrespective of DSS or this option all secondary volumes are thinly provisioned. How do you specify value for this option in KB\MB\GB\TB? As it suggests in the option name the value should be set in MB. If you want to set it to 50GB then you would run the following cli C:\>dfm options set pmAutomaticSecondaryVolMaxSizeMb=51200 Changed auto-provisioned secondary volume max size, in megabytes to 51200. BTW if you want to reset or turn off this option you would do the following. C:\>dfm options set pmAutomaticSecondaryVolMaxSizeMb=0 Changed auto-provisioned secondary volume max size, in megabytes to 0. Regards adai

Hi Muhammad, Pls find my response to each of your questions I guess this is disabled by default as we upgraded from previous version of DFM. As kevin said upgrade from 3.7 or earlier will have this option disabled. If we enable this option now what impact it could have on the existing SV and QSM relationships? The existing secondary volume will be resized in most cases it would be downsized, the rule of thumb is for primary volume which are less than 60% used then secondary volume size is 1.32x the source volume total size. greater than 60% used then secondary volume size is 2.2x the source volume used size. I just did a test to double check my memory, happy that my memory is still valid After setting this option enable will this only work on the newly created relationships? The answer to previous question hold good here as well. It applies to both existing and those that will get created as well but only for SV and QSM and not for OSSV or VSM Does this option work only on SV and QSM not on VSM? Yes it works only on SV and QSM secondary volumes and will work for VSM starting 5.1 and later, but never applies to any OSSV secondary volumes. What will happen if SV\QSM destination volume become full with dpDynamicSecondarySizing option enabled. Would destination volumes gets increased automatically? As said earlier DSS keeps adjusting both shrink and grow depending upon the source volume used/total as per the rule of thumb. less than 60% used then secondary volume size is 1.32x the source volume total size. greater than 60% used then secondary volume size is 2.2x the source volume used size. Hope I bombarded too with answers.... Regards adai

Hi Marc, Yes there is an upgrade path. I would rather recommend doing the following. Install 5.2 on a new server with the same license key are 4.0.2 Change the following options values in your dfm 4.0.2 server dfbm options set purgeJobsOlderThan=15days dfm options set eventsPurgeInterval=30days Take a backup of our current DFM 4.0.2 using dfm backup create. Copy the backup taken in step 3 and restore in machine of step 1. PS: Restore will take some time as it does quite some db maintenance, you will find a marked difference after restore in your interaction with NMC performance. The reason I asked you to change the options in step 2 is because in 5.2 restore or upgrade delete all event older than the value set in each of these options. Regards adai

Is there a specific reason why this options is disabled ? Ideally the value for this option should be enabled. That way you get the benefits of DSS for SV and QSM destination volumes, instead of creating aggr sized none guaranteed volumes PM will create destination volumes, 1.32x the total size of source volume if used space on source is <60% and 2.2x the used size of source volume if used space on source is >60%.
