We have a AFF A220 we will be deploying that has 8 x SFP+Optical 10 Gb Shortwave connectors. We wish to connect it to our Cisco 2960-X switches via the 2 x SFP interfaces on each switch. Unfortunately, the model of 2960 we procured seems to only be able to support 1 GB optical: Cisco Catalyst 2960X-24PSQ-L, 2 SFP (10/100/1000BT) My questions are: 1) will we be able to connect the SAN to these switches assuming it will negotiate a connection down to 1 GB due to the switch limitations? 2) what client protocols over the FC are available to use for our vSphere cluster given the limited bandwidth on the switch. Assuming SCSI over FC is our only option thanks in advance! Marcus

hi. We recently purchased the SAN with 12 x 960GB SSD for our production vSphere environment. As we are not familiar with how to assign the number of drives per node (2 nodes on the A220), is it safe to say the recommended and most generic configuration would be 6 drives per node in a 1 TB RAID6 configuration? regards.

Hi We have a followig configuration: AFF250 with 10 disks of 13,97TB. ADPv2 is in place. 2 data aggregates of 9 partitions each 6,94 TiB in size. We've just added 8 disks which appear as spares, not partitioned. Tryig to expand the aggregate via GUI (ONTAP 9.10) I get the following estimation message: Adding drives to local tier "aggr02" will increase its capacity by approximately 25 TiB I wonder how is it going to expand the aggregate? I would expect 8 partitions of 6,94 TiB added to the existing raid group what would result in 8x6,94TiB Can I do it manually via command line? Have not found any documentation other than Add capacity to a local tier (add disks to an aggregate) (netapp.com) but it is not detailed enough. Thanks in advance for your advices.
