that's more of a question for Microsoft. With Snapdrive or without SnapDrive, removing the Clustered disk resource from the Cluster Group is a Microsoft task only.
I can only share my non-authoritative personal experience on a Windows 2012 R2 cluster and as long as there are no dependencies set on that new disk, I am able to remove it from the Cluster Quorum group, from within Storage/Disks....hope that helps....
