SME 6.0 and CCR snapshot naming

We are using Snapmanager 6.02 in our Exchange 2007 CCR environment, and have elected to backup the secondary copy as well as the primary. However, when we select generic naming for our snapshots (to facilitate scheduled NDMP to tape) we notice that the generic naming only works on the active node, and the secondary backup uses datestamp naming.

Is this expected?

Thanks in advance.

Joekeglovitz,

I have pinged my engineering team to verify the same, please standby.

This is what I got from engineering.

This is expected behavior, since we treat backups on active and passive the same, there is only one most recent backup at a time. If you already NDMP one snapshot on one node, doing the same for snapshot on another node may not be required, as both copies are pretty much the same.

Thanks

Good to know, but I'm still not sure how to automate the process to recognize if the primary/active node has switched, since we base the selection list off of the "daily" name, and if Symantec can't find it, fails the job.
