Altavault 4.3.x and Intellisnap for NetApp

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can elaborate on what the integration possibilities are between Altavault with SnapMirror shares and Intellisnap for NetApp (latest release)?

In particular from AFA A200 boxes running ONTAP 9.1P5.

As the Commvault Intellisnap for NetApp piece would be handling any cataloguing and snapshot rotation schedules there seems no value in implimenting SnapCenter for customers that already have SnapProtect/Intellisnap for NetApp. However although it appears to be compatible in theory I cannot find anything definitive at this stage.

Hi Garth,

Direct integration with SnapMirror and AltaVault is only available as part of the Data Fabric Solution for Cloud Backup, which includes SnapCenter, and not Intellisnap for NetApp at this time. There are features that are specific to AltaVault that are implemented with ONTAP, and only SnapCenter is aware of that today.

You can use Intellisnap for NetApp to create backup copy policies to AltaVault today, but not with the feature capabilities of AltaVault and SnapCenter, including cataloging snapshots. As I understand from TR-4457, the ability to catalog snapshots is disabled when creating the storage backup copy policy and copy policy.
