CIFS Volume Size

I would like to know what CIFS volume size people recoment.   I am adding CIFS usage for the first time.   I have a 900 gig file share on a windows server.   I would like to know if I should robocopy the entire 900 gig or if I should break out the folders.

Hi and welcome to the Community!

In my opinion there is no need to break this share into multiple volumes - unless you have different snapshot schedules / retention periods for some data subsets.

You may also consider using multiple qtrees within the same volume for dividing data into smaller chunks (if there is a good reason for that, e.g. quota management).

Radek
