We have added our server admins domain group to the local Administrators group on the NetApp. The CIFS share has Administrators group full control all the way down. Trying to change permissions using my account that is in the server admins group results in access denied, but if I force our server admins group all the way down the tree, then I have no issue changing permissions!
What is going on here??

We had a similar issue when we changed our Domain level to 2008 from 2003. We had to change the security group to domain local for it to start working again.
Our setup is:
User group - Domain Global
Group containing the User Group - Domain Local
We had to make them both Domain Global groups.
Hope this helps
