NFS Symbolic Links

I have a redhat 5 system where we make symbolic links on the local server that reference the actual files that are mounted on the netapp filer.

I have serched in the netapp now site for help however I only get a lot of information on CIFS and not NFS.

The information that I read so far has produced one question.

  1. Do I need to edit the /etc/symlink.translations file to have symbolic links work on the filer?

The /etc/symlink.translation file is only needed to make symlinks for for CIFS, not NFS.  Just know that when you create symlinks in NFS,

the paths need to make sense for the client, not the server.  So if it needs to work across multiple clients, the path needs to be consistent.

Other than that, you're fine.
