Hi,

I have two volumes in my fas2040,but I had problem with file owner.

vol1->Use Snapmirror migrate to here form other controller.

vol2->New create

I login with sltd account

sltd
uid=60009(sltd) gid=10(wheel) groups=10(wheel)

When I touch new file 555 in /vol/summary/temp,the file owner showed incorrect.

-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Apr 30 10:21 555 <owner is root:root>

When I touch new file 555  in /vol/kevinqtree/temp,the file owner showed correct.

-rw-r--r-- 1 sltd wheel 0 Apr 30 10:25 555<owner is  sltd:wheel >

kevinqtree is temp create for test

I also use vol2 and test result is correct

These are qtree permission and owner status.

drwxrwxrwx    4 root bin   4096 Apr 28 15:03 kevinqtree
drwxrwxr-x   36 root bin   8192 Apr 30 10:09 summary

NetApp Setting

Qtree is mixed mode

Volume   Tree     Style Oplocks  Status
-------- -------- ----- -------- ---------
vol0              unix  enabled  normal
vol2              mixed enabled  normal
vol1              mixed enabled  normal
vol1     testqtree mixed enabled  normal
vol1     summary  mixed enabled  normal

Anybody can help me?

If you are looking for trouble-then choose mixed mode.

Mixed mode forces the filer to translate users and rights from

either NTFS to UNIX and vice visa, prone to problems.

Choose either UNIX or NTFS security style to have a decent

authority in place.

My penny.
