Hi there,

IHAC is using NFS for VMware, datastores are stored in the qtree(unix security), and the volume is NTFS security.

Then they snapvault the qtree to the secondary storage. On secondary storage, the volume is also NTFS security, and qtree is UNIX security. Now they want to check the contents in the snapvaulted qtree from the Windows client, they get the "You might not have permission to use this network resource" error message when they access the qtree under the shared volume.

But they can access the qtree under shared volume on the primary storage, and if they create a NTFS volume and UNIX qtree under the volume on the secondary storage, they also can access the qtree under the shared volume.

Any idea?

Hi Jeff,

This may be something to do with unicode settings on the source volume, do you have the the convert_ucode and create_ucode options set to on? I seem to remember having a similar issue a few years back. Once these options have been set, you will also need to "touch" every directory so that they are converted to unicode, then update the mirror. Obviously, previous SnapVault copies will still be inaccessible. If you have access to NOW, see KB 23656.
