Can someone advise what the affects on volume, qtrees is when you change the security style from nfts to unix and vice versa, so

whats the affect on volume and qtrees when security is change from nfts to unix or mixed.  This is on existing and new created volumes and qtrees.

This is covered in great details in TR-3490.

Hi there:

If you change security style from unix to cifs: obviously the unix will forbid its access because of complete protocol change and users will experience the issues.

If you change security style from cifs to UNIX: obviously the cifs users will disconnect and the share will be nfs only.

In the both cases, the /etc/usermap should be configured well in advance accordingly.

The best document to refer is: http://media.netapp.com/documents/tr-3490.pdf

Thank you,
