Maybe a helpful answer ?

'[kern.time.rpc.error:ALERT]: Unable to read updated Timekeeping options.' Doesn't show up in the 'syslog translator on the NOW site.

This is a little dissapointing, I'll hope the EMS database folks can get some updates in there Real Soon Now. This isn't the first time lately that there's been a message I ran that didn't come up.

I wish they'd also enter in error messages for various NetApp OnCommand software. Over the years it's been an excelltent tool to use.

Reading the message it looks like it's an Network Time Protocol (NTP) RPC error.

Check your timed options settings with 'options timed' and verify that your listed timeservers are available on the network.

I hope this response has been helpful to you.

Ilgiz -

You are very welcome, sir !

I'm trying hard here...

It's very interesting to me. No error messgs on the other filer ?

Hrrrm... Have you opened a support case on this yet ?

How long ago did this start, or is it a new installation ?

Is performance affected here, or is everything else working OK ?

It is commendable that you are watching the logs to see this.

What can we do to resolve this problem ?

I'm willing to keep trying - while you are.

I hope this response has been helpful to you.

Ilgiz -

You are very welcome, and my thanks go out to you for posing the question.

Maybe I will make a blog posting in the near future on the subject of time, which can be very interesting and important.

NTP and time is one of the subjects that has fascinated me over the years - so many things depend on it.

I did some of the early work on time differentials and precision GPS in the 1980's.

It's a subject I spend some 'time' on when teaching class.

( Configure your infrastructure to use GMT for court ? )

I hope this response has been helpful to others on the forum. !
