Hi Friends,
We got a scenario,of volume run out of space it makes the LUN to offline.what is the reason to cause a LUN offline inspite of making volume offline.

In NetApp WAFL, a LUN is just another way to look at a Volume. They go offline by design when they run out of space. The SAN Admin Guide has information on taking LUNS online and offline, etc. https://library.netapp.com/ecmdocs/ECMP1136382/html/html/210-05627/frameset.html

Saran Raj,
If you don't want the snapshots, remove the fractional reserve and snap reserve. You will be back to business but not a best practice. Buy storage and enable them if you want. This is temp solution to get the business up and running.

i just re framed my quest,in the above scenario we have volume as guarantee it makes the LUN to get offline ,if i had the guarantee as File what would happen if volume run out of space ..?
