Hi Community,
i am planning a TR from a 2 Node Fabric Metrocluster froman FAS8200 to an FAS8300.
The FAS8200 is using the onboard Ports 0e/0f for FCVI Connectivity, the FAS8300 will be using the X1928 FCVI HBA.
https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/ontap-metrocluster/upgrade/concept_choosing_controller_upgrade_mcc.html#supported-metrocluster-ip-controller-upgrades states under "Supported MetroCluster FC controller upgrades" at
Note 2: Controller upgrades from AFF A300 or FAS8200 platforms using onboard ports 0e and 0f as FC-VI connections are supported only on systems running ONTAP 9.9.1. or earlier. For more information, review the Public Report.
The Public Report links to https://mysupport.netapp.com/site/bugs-online/product/ONTAP/BURT/1507088.
Summary: AFF A300 or FAS8200 systems running ONTAP 9.10.1 or later in Fabric MetroCluster configurations and using onboard ports for FC-VI connections cannot upgrade nondisruptively to AFF A700 or FAS9000 systems. FC-VI connections between the old and new systems will fail. This issue is not present in ONTAP versions prior to 9.10.1.
Is this Burt also true for Upgrade to FAS8300 ?
Best Regards
Hannes
