After updating ONTAP, the sensor show output on the FAS8200 has become slow, taking about 4 seconds.

Dear Everyone,

After upgrading the FAS8200 platform to ONTAP 9.12.1, the output time of the sensors show command has increased from the previous 2 seconds to about 4 seconds.
Using the hidden option, we confirmed that there are some differences in the "init sensors" section.
Although the number of sensor items is the same between ONTAP 9.9 and 9.12.1, the customer is concerned about what internal logic changes may have caused the additional 2-second delay.

While we believe this behavior is normal, we need to provide the customer with a clear explanation of the underlying reason.

For comparison with other platforms:

FAS8300: 328 sensors → output within 1 second

AFF A700s: 430 sensors → output within 1 second

I would appreciate any advice you can provide regarding this issue.

1. The FAS8200 system might be temporarily busier.

2. The SP is temporarily busier or is having issues reading sensors via IPMI.

When was the last time the SP was rebooted and/or upgraded? Try rebooting the SP. If it's downrev, considering updating the SP to the latest firmware version.

We found that in ONTAP 9.12, the BMC chip used in platforms such as FAS2600, FAS8200, and AFF A200 underwent internal enhancements, which resulted in approximately a 2-second increase in processing time.
