BSOD 0x0000007B while booting from SAN

Hello

My system:

- Netapp FAS3140, Cluster

- 2 FC Switches Brocade

- IBM Servers with QLogic HBA, two ports, Windows Server 2008 x64

Installation with IBM Serverguide, single path, works fine and windows is booting fine (HUK & DSM installed).

Then Disaster Recovery test: Switch off FC Switch 1 and booting from second HBA port, windows will boots but during the booting process i'm receiving Bluescreen Error 0x0000007B (Inaccessible Boot Device).

Whats the problem?

Is the same HBA, same Storage, same Server? Only an other path over the second switch and the second HBA port.

I hope anyone from you has a tip!

Regards,

simon

Most likely the reason is that you installed using single path. After installation connect second path, let system fully detect and configure it (confirm that you actually see two paths to every LUN) and then test boot again.

Hi

I have done this...  I can see all paths, then I try to boot over the second hba --> BSOD.

Is this for windows a problem?

It should not be a problem for Windows if everything is setup correctly.

1. Make sure your FC card's BIOS is seeing the LUN as ID 0

2. Make sure you are running MPIO inside your OS

3. Make sure your FC switch OS version, FC card BIOS, and FC card driver are all on the IMT.

Thanks,

Mitchell
