FAS2040 Console Port

I have a FAS2040 being used as a NAS.  Should the console port be plugged into my physical switch or can it only be used to connect my laptop directly into it?

Thanks!

The console port is just that... for serial console connection to a physical computer.

The FAS2040 does have an out-of-band management port called the BMC. This port has a wrench and is for SSH connectivity and out-of-band management of the unit to allow you to restart the controllers and not lose connectivity.

You can think of the BMC like a console port on the network.
