FAS2040 Single Controller Mode.

Hi

It's my first expiriance with that sort of controllers.

By mistake i have configured only one head, the first with e0a...

It is located in another city so I am not available to connect to it by console

And I need to turn it to Single Controller mode.

If it's possible to do it remotely? or I need to configure the second head?

How can I do it?

Thanks

The only way to make it believe it’s a single node is to remove the 2nd head and replace it with a dummy.

(however de-clustering a clustered machine will result in a breach of license)

So yes for proper operation you will need to configure the second head and assign it at least 3 disks (minimal 2 disks for root if you plan to use raid4 and 1 spare to keep it from complaining on low spares)

Do yourself a favor and configure the second node properly, it will save you a lot  of headache if you’ll ever need to do an ontap upgrade.

Don’t forget to also connect the BMC as this will allow for remote console and power cycling of the heads.

I am really curious - in which respect? Could you point to a document that explains it? And what implication does it have - will NetApp refuse to provide service in this case or what exactly happens?

From the part that nobody reads when you try to download ONTAP (Base Customer Software License)
