Licensing Factory Reset FAS2240

Hi

As per our customer requirements, we applied option 4 to a couple of FAS2240 before pulling them out of their datacenter. Now, we want to use them for non critical tasks but they reject the licenses we got when we purchased them.

Installed ONTAP is 8.2.5 version and it expects longer license keys than what we have.

hostname> license add XXXXXXX
license add: invalid license key "XXXXXXX", license keys must be 28 or 42 letters in length.

Where can we have our purchased licenses converted to this longer format?

Thanks

In your case, as you have wiped the previous Ontap and installed 8.2.5, old license format will not work. As long as there is valid support contract, you can contact support and refer this article. They can guide you further. However, just to let you know FAS2240 has already reached end-of-life (software/hardware, including ontap-7mode) and hence I cannot advise any further. Please get in touch with Sales/Support to find out more.

New license keys are only required if the system has been wiped clean and the new version keys are not available on Support Site. If you require new license keys, work with your NetApp Sales or Support representatives to submit a License Modification Request. (reference this KB article).
