Hi,
I am planning to add new shelves (DS212C with 2TB FSAS disks) to a FAS8200 system running on 9.1, and was wondering which is preferable, adding the new shelves to an existing DS224C (SAS disks) stack, or to add to an existing DS4246 (BSAS) stack.
I understand that mixing of SAS and SATA disks may impact performance but then adding IOM12 shelf to an existing IOM6 stack will cause the shelf to run at IOM6 speeds.
Stacks are populated as such:
stack #1 : DS224C (SSD) x 1 shelf (storage pool, allocated to the SAS and BSAS aggregates)
stack #2: DS224C (SAS) x 2 shelves (hybrid)
stack #3: DS4246 (FSAS 4TB) x 4 shelves
stack #4 DS4246 (BSAS 2TB) x 3 shelves (hybrid)
Suggestions as to which is preferable?
thanks!
