SM-BC with VMWARE

Hello

I am preparing a stretch cluster for SM-BC and presented the LUN to all hosts on the stretch cluster. The hosts on the 2nd DC do not mount the datastores though LUN is assigned whereas 1st DC site mounts the datastore on all hosts. Is this normal by design or is there an underlying issue with iSCSI/LUN.

FYI, SM_BC relation is not yet setup.

The requirement for SM-BC is uniform host access and LUN to be assigned to all hosts from the storage. This LUN will be datastore and has to be mounted. So this mount would happen across all nodes or nodes only in 1 site ?

Ideally you would not want a remote site to access the LUN from the local site for business continuity, you would need the secondary SVM at the remote site to host the destination to be able to go live, as needed.

You can reference the following documentation: https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/ontap/concept_san_smbc_overview.html#requirements

to better understand your situation, would you explain your exact needs and current topology between the local and remote VMware sites?

Issue resolved after we did a direct connect between the 2 x ISCSI switch with 10 Gb Fiber. Maybe earlier BW not sufficient to mount the Datastore on remote site.
