What's New in v1.1?

  • Item level ACL extraction - preserves existing security principals and automatically transfers these to Microsoft Graph so that granular item level permissions are still enforced within the Copilot ecosystem.
  • Support for multiple shares per connector - allows a single connector to mount multiple share targets, greatly increasing the scale and simplifying deployment for customers with large amounts of shares.
  • Enhanced support for additional file types:
    • PDF
    • PowerPoint
    • Word
    • Excel
    • HTML
    • Text-based file formats (CSV, JSON, XML)
    • ZIP files (Iterates over contents)
    • Note: Additional Audio (EXIF metadata and speech transcription) and Image (EXIF metadata and OCR) support is available under request
  •  Simplified deployment - the entire connector is now deployed as a extractable ZIP file

What problem does the connector solve?

Whilst Copilot significantly boosts employee productivity by saving users an average of 1.2 hours per week, it's effectiveness is limited when it cannot access critical business information outside Office 365. This limitation can lead to incomplete insights and potential AI hallucinations, reducing the tool's value for enterprise decision-making. In addition, existing security models must be respected to ensure data security and regulatory compliance.

Solution

The NetApp Connector for Microsoft 365 Copilot seamlessly integrates with existing NetApp deployments, supporting a comprehensive range of file formats including PDF, Office documents, images, audio files, and structured data formats. Most importantly, it preserves existing security protocols by fully supporting ACL Item Level Permission Extraction, ensuring users can only access information they're authorized to see.

How to Get Started

Implementation is straightforward through the Office 365 data and intelligence administrator portal, with the connector automatically honoring existing ACL permissions for seamless security compliance.
