Learn all about workload factory

If you’re looking for an easier way to get Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP working with your applications, we can’t wait to show you some new features when you visit us at booth #1748 at re:Invent.

  • Workload factory integration with BlueXP™. This standalone service has been integrated into the NetApp BlueXP console. Through NetApp's unified, hybrid multicloud control plane, you can optimize and automate workloads running Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP. In addition, it is still available as a standalone service.
  • Continuous optimization (drift control). Optimization starts with the storage layer only for database workloads; additional layers, such as compute and application, will be added in future releases. Guidance and guardrails help deliver optimal performance, cost efficiency, and adherence to best practices.
  • GenAI—data guardrails. These guardrails, powered by the BlueXP classification service, automatically identify and filter out private and sensitive information from your GenAI application during the data ingestion process, for compliance with data privacy laws and regulations.
  • Software Build Studio (builders workload). Accelerate software development by leveraging the advanced data mobility capabilities built into FSx for ONTAP. Workload factory for builders enables software engineers to easily and quickly create development workspaces by automating their data storage infrastructure operations while giving DevOps and IT teams full control and governance through policies and observability.

Sessions, sessions, sessions!

This year there are multiple opportunities to attend sessions that feature NetApp solutions, including two NetApp led sessions and a range of sessions presented by AWS. Here are the highlights of the NetApp led sessions.

  • AIM231-S. “Creating a data foundation to use Amazon Bedrock for GenAI and RAG” (Monday, 12/2 11:30am | Venetian - Titian 2304). This session will offer strategic insights into how NetApp and AWS can expedite your GenAI journey by addressing the critical challenges associated with data mobility and infrastructure. Presented by Yuval Kalderon, Senior Product Manager, FSx for ONTAP Product Team, NetApp.
  • KUB202-S. “Scaling GenAI: Tackling operational challenges with Kubernetes” (Wednesday, 12/4 11:30am | Caesars). As the GenAI revolution unfolds, organizations must navigate the operational challenges of scaling GPU workloads in the cloud. This session will address how optimizing AI inference workloads requires deep understanding of Kubernetes and AI models. Presented by Zak Harabadien, Principal Product Architect, NetApp.

In addition to the NetApp sessions, AWS will present solutions that use NetApp technologies. Here are the AWS-led sessions, including breakouts, chalk talks, and workshops, that highlight NetApp technology.

  • STG202 — Network-attached storage in the cloud with Amazon FSx
  • STG317 — Use your own proprietary data to build customized generative AI apps
  • STG333 — Architecting file storage for increased resilience
  • STG336 — Lift-and-shift your database: Scalable, performant, and cost-efficient
  • STG337 — Migrate any VMware workload from anywhere to improve your TCO
  • STG346 — Empower compute-heavy workloads with burst-to-cloud storage
  • STG404 — Increase your database agility with Amazon FSx
  • STG407 — Implement multiprotocol data access with Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP
  • STG414 — Harness your file data value with Amazon Bedrock and generative AI

  • STG335 — Find the perfect file storage to optimize your workload's performance

Even more presentations at our mini theater

You can watch demos and talk with NetApp experts in our booth. We’ll also have a minitheater with sessions from NetApp and our partners,  covering a handful of topics.

  • AI/ML (including generative AI and RAG). Focusing on AI/ML, we will present how to use FSx for ONTAP to support AI at AWS. Presentations include using BlueXP workload factory to connect with Amazon Bedrock.
  • Enterprise workloads. A series of presentations on how FSx for ONTAP supports key workloads, including Oracle and SQL Server databases, as well as VMware environments that most users are looking to support in the cloud.
  • Industry solutions. NetApp and our partners will discuss how FSx for ONTAP integrates with specific vertical- or industry-focused solutions, including how our partners are building solutions for electronic design automation, manufacturing, and gaming use cases.
  • Builders. Presentations will introduce cloud-first application developers to the benefits of using FSx for ONTAP as the data foundation for their applications.

Did we mention the demos?

Our booth will contain multiple demo stations for you to see exactly how NetApp works with AWS to bring your cloud solutions to life.

If you’re looking to run your workloads on AWS, FSx for ONTAP can save up to 50% on data storage, easily demonstrated with our BlueXP workload factory TCO calculators.  We’ll show how to plan a best-practice migration of VMware workloads to native AWS infrastructure in minutes instead of days with workload factory VMware advisor. We’ll demonstrate how to easily scan AWS SQL workloads for cost-saving opportunities and realize them in minutes with FSx for ONTAP and workload factory. We’ll show you how to enhance your GenAI applications with access to your enterprise data (RAG) securely and in minutes with FSx for ONTAP and workload factory. And finally, we’ll help you to understand how to unleash the full potential of your FSxN-based workloads with workload factory replication, NetApp snapshot™ technology, and cloning management.

We will also demo how the Spot by NetApp portfolio can help you solve the root causes of FinOps challenges. You’ll see how our products optimize both cost and infrastructure, using our AI-driven automation to maximize the value of your cloud. And we’ll showcase how Spot Ocean by NetApp supports GenAI inference workloads by optimizing Kubernetes infrastructure and GPU resources for both cost and efficiency.

For organizations that are using open-source technologies to deliver business applications, we will NetApp Instaclustr®, an intelligent data infrastructure management platform for the enterprise. And we’ll show how Instaclustr integrates with vector database capabilities that provide improved results and fewer hallucinations for AI workloads.
