Google Cloud NetApp Volumes—at Standard, Premium, and Extreme service levels—is fully certified and supported as an NFS datastore for Google Cloud VMware Engine. And now we offer automated peering of Google Cloud NetApp Volumes with Google Cloud VMware Engine.

Common use cases for NetApp Volumes and Google Cloud VMware Engine

The combination of Google Cloud NetApp Volumes and VMware Engine has a wide array of practical applications, including:

  • Shared file storage for applications and databases, which provides a centralized storage solution that can be accessed by various applications and databases, ensuring consistency and performance.
  • Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), which enhances remote work capabilities with scalable and reliable desktop experiences.
  • VM home directories, which allow the creation of dedicated storage spaces for VMs, improving organization and access.
  • File services setup, which streamlines the deployment and management of file-sharing services across the enterprise.

Automatic peering now available

Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) network peerings are essential, because they define the network connectivity between Google Cloud VMware Engine networks, Google Cloud VPCs, and other services. You can now simply select Google Cloud NetApp Volumes from the VPC Network peerings in the Google Cloud console, and the peering will be completed automatically. This feature not only saves time but also reduces the potential for human error during setup.
