If the relationships were reaped (or deleted) as would be expected after a dataset destroy operation then they must be rebaselined. Importing them into a new dataset only will work if the relationships were not reaped, and even then the ability for UM to grow the secondary location would be lost. Assuming that the dataset was restored using the database backup (all or nothing restore - all data collected or generated after the backup creation would be lost in the restore), the relationships would still need to be recreated on the controller side. Thanks, Kevin

Hi Rick, You need to restore the database to a running instance of UM on the new server - it is not clear from your steps if that was attempted. Your first attempt was not a valid upgrade path, although it might have worked had all the paths and UM version been the same between the servers. Thanks, Kevin

Hi, I might be missing the point of the question, but have you already attempted to use the CLI? dfpm dataset relinquish { [ <destination-volume-name-or-id> ] | [ <destination-qtree-name-or-id> ] } Thanks, Kevin

Hi Hannes, Disabling DNS did it - I now observe the same error as you did when attempting to add a server name to the NTP field. It does not error when adding an ip (as expected). I will file a bug to change this behavior. Thanks, Kevin

Hannes, I was able to configure that server in my NTP settings using OCSM 3.1RC1 and ONTAP 8.0.3 7-mode. We will have to review the logs covering this error which should be in the same set already collected from you. Can I safely assume that the error occurred shortly before the first post in this thread (Jan 7, 2014 12:43 AM)? Thanks, Kevin

Hi Hannes, Is this the same Windows server from this post? https://communities.netapp.com/message/123139#123139 What text were you configuring in the NTP server field? Thanks, Kevin

Hello, The NMC UI is used to access the Protection Manager and Provisioning Manager features of Unified Manager. The NMC only communicates with the UM server, not any of the managed hosts. The monitors for SV and SM are both 30 minutes: snapmirrorTimestamp Normal 30 minutes 30 minutes 08 Jan 02:11 Normal 08 Jan 01:43 svTimestamp Normal 30 minutes 30 minutes 08 Jan 02:12 Normal 08 Jan 01:43 Are you inquiring about seeing relationships in the external relationships panel of the NMC? Hi Hannes, I don't suspect that the behavior is browser related but wanted to ensure that you had tried multiple browsers. We will require a support bundle to analyze the logs. I have sent you a PM requesting the same. Thanks, Kevin

Hi Hannes, 1) Which browser are you using? 2) Does this ever happen on the initial launch or only after you have closed OCSM and reopened it? 3) Have you already opened a support case? They would need to review the logs collected via a support bundle to determine if there is any obvious answers to your problems. I am not aware of any known bug that would describe this behavior. Thanks, Kevin

I cannot find a newer version of that TR, however you might also consult the UM 5.2 Install Guide for further instructions on MSCS setup. I am not aware of of any requirement that the SAN disks belong to NetApp unless you use SnapDrive to attach the LUNs - in that case they will need to be on NetApp. Thanks, Kevin

Based on your description I believe the cause of the failure is the lack of support in OnCommand Host Package for storage hosted by vFilers: http://support.netapp.com/NOW/cgi-bin/bol?Type=Detail&Display=647436 Discovery, back up and restore operations of VMware objects fail if they are hosted on Multistore. OnCommand Unified Manager Host Package does not support Multistore. Therefore, you cannot discover, backup and restore VMware objects. Thanks, Kevin

You will need to find and edit the SystemManager.config file - it will be located within your user account's home directory in the ..\NetApp\SystemManager path. Once you have located the file, carefully edit the path located within the <browser> tags to reflect the path to the browser you wish to use. I recommend using an XML aware editor such as Notepad++. Example: <browser>C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe</browser>

Hi Erik, Please open a support case and attach a support bundle from your UM server. https://kb.netapp.com/support/index?page=content&id=1014347 Generate a Support Bundle by choosing, from the Main Menu, Support/Diagnostics -> Generate a Support Bundle. This Support Bundle must be retrieved manually using SCP or SFTP with maintenance user credentials. See the Administration Guide for details. Thanks, Kevin

Hi Gerd, Neither UM or OCR is designed or tested to run on a system with other applications. The OCR IAG specifically states not to install it on a UM server. UM 5.2 ISG: Page 36 https://library.netapp.com/ecm/ecm_download_file/ECMP1222478 For optimal performance, the only other application that must be installed on the system running Core Package software is OnCommand Unified Manager Host Package OCR 1.2 IAG: Page 11 https://library.netapp.com/ecm/ecm_download_file/ECMP1201945 You must not install OnCommand Report on a host that runs any of the following: • OnCommand Unified Manager server • OnCommand Insight (previously known as SANscreen) Kevin
