Hi Emanuel, For the list of volume which are not VSM/QSMed can be got by a simple dfm report. Below is the sample one which I created using Volume catalog. [root@lnx ~]# dfm report view VolumesNotMirrored help VolumesNotMirrored Report (VolumesNotMirrored) This is a report created to know the list of volumes that are not QSM or VSMed. Catalog Name: Volume Display Tab: Filesystems Catalog Field Field Name Format --------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------- --------- StorageSystem.Name Storage System Volume.Name Volume Name Volume.IsSnapMirrorSource Is SM Src Volume.MirroredTo Mirrored To Volume.IsSnapMirrorDestination Is SM Dest Volume.MirrorOf Mirror Of Default sort order is StorageSystem.Name. [root@lnx ~]# [root@lnx186-118 ~]# dfm report list -C ID Report Name Description ---- ------------------------- --------------------------------------------- 42 VolumesNotMirrored This is a report created to know the list of volumes that are not QSM or VSMed. If "Is SM Src" and "Is SM Dest" is blank then these volumes are not protected. Similary those volume for which the field "Mirrored To" and "Mirrored Of" are blank then they are also not Mirrored. You can use either the Mirrorto or Is SM Src. Attached is the screen shot of the report i created, which is same as the above one I listed.

Hi Eugene, I think using the below command, you can purge sample from the history tables of dfm.Which will help you delete some of the growth and trend graphs for the specified period.(In your case when before turning on netapp technologies.) [root@lnx ~]# dfm purgehistory help NAME purgehistory -- purge history samples from various DFM history tables. SYNOPSIS dfm purgehistory timerange -c <column-name> -t <start-timestamp> -T <end-timestamp> [-s] [-N <replacement-value>] <table-name> dfm purgehistory valuerange -c <column-name> {-m <min-purge-value> | -M <max-purge-value> | -m <min-purge-value> -M <max-purge-value>} [-s] [-N <replacement-value>] <table-name> DESCRIPTION The purgeHistory command neatens a DFM history table by cleaning spikes in history samples. table-name Table name containing history samples. -c column-name Column name containing the sample history value. -t start-timestamp Starting timestamp value of history samples for column <column-name>. -T end-timestamp Ending timestamp value of history samples for column <column-name>. -m min-purge-value Minimum purge value of history samples for column <column-name>. If this is the only option given, then all history samples above this value are purged. -M max-purge-value Maximum purge value of history samples for column <column-name>. If this is the only option given, then all history samples below this value are purged. -N replacement-value When provided, all purged history sample values for column <column-name> are substituted with <replacement-value>. Hi Roger, As I mentioned, its a filer level option and not Protection Policy or Dataset level one. Since the options ndmpd_preferredinterface accepts only one port name its not possible. Regards adai

Yes, Just launch the edit wizard and apply the provisioning policy, the existing volume’s options will be modified as per the prov policy. Regards adai

Hi Chris, Suspend the dataset, from where you would like to remove the VSM relationship and add to another dataset. Then go to the edit wizard of the suspended dataset and remove the members. Both Primary and Mirror Volumes. After this, you will find these relationships in the external relationship tab, from there import it to the desired dataset. This does not involve any rebaseline. All this has to be done within 2hours to if dfm version is 3.7 or earlier, to make sure dfm doesn’t reap the relationships. If its 3.8 or latter its dependant on the dpreaperclenaupmode options. Of all being said if the process is done within 2hours then without rebaseline or deletion, they can be imported or consolidated to one dataset. Regards adai

Hi was the VMware Guest OS just not tested with OEL? I think its more than the technical reason, its wasn’t just tested. Unsupported configuration aren’t supported by NGS. This is for your info. Regards adai

Its true that luns base catalog dont have volume, but the lun full path in fact contain the volume name. and volume catalog has info about scheduled snapshot pollices. And snapshot catalog has info about snapshot names. So even though there is no easy solution, but this can be scripted and run as a dfm script plugin job and even create an event for the same and alerted. Let me know if you would like to have such a solution. Another easy or better way is the use the dbviews of dfm dfm 3.7 or latter and do a sql query and get this info. All the db schema view info is available in the online help. Regards adai

The only way I can get an alert to clear is to delete it. Not really you can acknowledge events in ops-mgr. Most other management systems I have worked on allow you acknowledge the alert, which will then clear it., BUT you are still left with the history. this is same with ops-mgr too. you can see the same in events-history reports. if the event is neutralised. Below is the list of reports that you can get the info from. events-history show all historic events events-history-acked show all acknowledged historic events The way this is implemented in Ops Manager , you lose the alert history. you much check the below reports for the same. events-history-deleted show all deleted historic events Regards adai

Hi By default, when an event is neutralized, that is like the one in the example below. disks:some-failed Error disk.failed and latter after the user intervention, it changes to disks:none-failed Normal disk.failed then the latter event restore the status and the event is neutralized. As the first one is Error severity and the latter one is of Normal severity will neutralise and move the event from the current events to histroy events. But still i am not sure if that's case, should PA move the event in the event correlation though it shouldn't be, let me check and get back to you. Regards adai

One was is to group all those volumes containing luns under one resource group in DFM and don't configure an alarm for that group. The above one will not help if either alarm based on the volume full event or event severity of error or warning is set at global level. Another was is to change the event severity to normal or informational, but other really volume full event will also have the same severity. Regards adai

Hi, Basically for the storage system environment related info(especially) can be made got from the NetApp Storage System mib which gives all possible values.( this is jsut a stop gap workaround that will help you get over this hurdle.) But I do agree that possible values needs to be documented. Regards adai

Hi Ev, I don’t think so if you can install as the installer in the first place wouldn’t be Mac compatible. If there is requirement get it touch with the product manager. At least till now we haven’t got request for MAC support for NMC since 2007 when it was first released with Protection Manger. Regards adai

Having snapmirror.conf entry doesn’t matter for the discovery of snapmirror relationships. Do you have your credentials set for the filers set ? As SV relationship are discovered using Zapi. Look if monitors are running ? Check if your monitor stopped due to lack of space in the install dir. Regards adai

Hi Alerts/Alarms in dfm can only be configured at global or group level and not at individual object levels like Aggr A, volume B etc. So either you can group these volumes and don’t create an alarm.(for this to work you shouldn’t have any alarms at global level) Or easier way is to set the threshold value of this particular volume to higher value than the default of 80 and 90. This can be done from both UI and cli . From cli use the dfm volume set command to get the threshold name and values. And use dfm volume set <volumename-or-id> thresholdname=thresholdvalue. From web UI go to the volume details page of the particular volume and on the left hand side Under Volume Tools click “ Edit Quota Settings <http://10.72.186.223:8080/dfm/edit/volume?object=54655&group=0> ” and chage the values. Hi Muhammad, SV relationship, configured through, dfbm(Backup Manager) dont push or set the schedules(snapvault snap sched) in the filer. They are driven and run by the dfmscheduler. So Setting them wont make any difference except for more backups are created one by dfmscheduler driven and another by snapvault snap sched by filer. Hi Are you talking about the highlighted part of the screenshot ? Then here you go, For secondary volume which don't have any schedules attached is always listed as none. For such volume one have to select the volume and click on the edit button that takes to Secondary Volume Details page to add a schedule. For secondary volumes which already have schedules attached this shows the schedule name with add and edit button by the side. Regards adai

Hi Chris, All options are documented in the man pages. Which can be accessed from the command line in case of linux and also from The web-ui of Ops-Mgr. ContorlCenter->Help-General Help and Man pages. For your convinence I am pasting the same below. processHostPrimaryAddress: Action to take when the Primary IP address of the storage system in DataFabric Managerâs database is different from the IP address given by the DNS. The options are off, warn, error If the option is off, check for IP address mis-match. If the option is warn, check for IP address mis-match and give a warning if the address do not match. If the option is error, give an error if the IP address do not match. The default value of the option is warn. Regards adai
