Is there a way to configure autosupport in UM6.1RC1 to use a proxy when sending like you can do on the NetApp filers themselves? When trying to send an autosupport in UM6.1RC1, it always fails and I think that is the reason. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for reporting!

Sending AutoSupport via Proxy is not a supported option in UM6.1RC1. AutoSupport are sent to NetApp  using pre-configured URL, so request you to check whether "support.netapp.com" is reachable from UM deployments. However it is not clear whether you are using "Web Interface", "Maintenance Console (Send to NetApp/Email)" or "Enabled Periodic AutoSupport" to send AutoSupport.

Which of the below step was carried out when you encountered the issue?

  1. You have used "Web Interface" to send AutoSupport, and your actions were "Click Administration" => "Go to Setup Options" => "Click Management Server" => "Go to the AutoSupport menu" => "Press the 'Generate and Send AutoSupport' button".
  2. You have used "Maintenance Console" and your actions were "Log into the maintenance console as the maintenance user" => "Go to (4) Support/Diagnostics" => "Go to (1) AutoSupport Submission" => "(1) Post to NetApp".
  3. You have configured SMTP server and You have used "Maintenance Console" and your actions were "Log into the maintenance console as the maintenance user" => "Go to (4) Support/Diagnostics" => "Go to (1) AutoSupport Submission" => "(2) Send as email".
  4. You have enabled "Periodic AutoSupport" using "Web Interface" but it is not sending "Periodic AutoSupport" as expected.

To identify the cause and resolve the issue, please carry out one of below steps whichever is applicable based your actions outlined above:

  1. "Log into the maintenance console as the maintenance user" => "Go to (4) Support/Diagnostics" => "Go to (1) AutoSupport Submission" => "(1) Post to NetApp". The maintenance console will show the progress of "AutoSupport Collection" followed by "Sending AutoSupport to NetApp". In case there is an error then console will provide error description. That will help you in resolving the issue, if not then you can attach the console output/log here and that will help us in providing the resolution.
  2. In case you are trying to send AutoSupport via Email using "Maintenance Console", you need to follow above step but instead of selecting "(1) Post to NetApp" please choose "(2) Send as email".
  3. In case if there is no issue in sending AutoSupport with above two steps and you are still seeing issue via "Web Interface" then we need to analyze the UM 6.1RC1 log files. You need collect "Support Bundle" by  "Log into the maintenance console as the maintenance user" => "Go to (4) Support/Diagnostics" => "Go to (4) Generate Support Bundle". Raise support request and send in "Support Bundle" to NetApp Engineering Support.

Raghuveer,

First and foremost, thanks for the information and assistance with this.

1) When generating an autosupport via the Web UI I receive this error.

2) When generating an autosupport from the maintenance console using the "Post to NetApp" option I receive this error.

3) Using the maintenance console and sending the autosupport via email seems to work ok. Is there a default email address to send to NetApp?

4) Periodic AutoSupport is enabled but not being received by NetApp.

Greetings Branden

Please open a case with technical support and post case number here.  Once you have the case number, generate an AutoSupport from the maintenance console (email only since posting to NetApp is not functioning), generate a Support Bundle (make a note of the name), retrieve the Support Bundle (login as maintenance user and SFTP or SCP the Support Bundle off the box) and upload both the Support Bundle and the AutoSupport file to the case directory (see this KB:  https://kb.netapp.com/support/index?page=content&id=1010090).

Thanks

Alex
