How do I get Controller Firmware (CFW) and Host Software (HSW) for my system? A. In the past, LSI did not post CFW and HSW on LSI.com. That is because the products mainly were sold through OEM partners and there were few direct customers. For those situations where LSI had a support relationship with an end customer, code would be provided as part of the problem resolution if a defect was found. One exception to this was for the CTS2600 product- which had CFW and HSW code posted in the secure download area along with the VSS/VDS providers that were specific for the CTS2600. Provisions have been made on the NetApp Support Site on the Software Downloads page to get to CTS2600 binaries after you have registered as a user as specified above. They will be contained under the “RAID Controller CTS2600 Legacy Engenio” listing. This policy will continue at NetApp in that CFW and HSW will not be posted on the Support Site for the legacy systems. Other software that was on the site that has been moved to the Support Site is outlined in another FAQ and matrix below. Of course, for those customers that have purchased NetApp branded-products directly from NetApp have their own entitlement and can access the software that they are entitled to via the NetApp Support site.

Are you getting the error on connect only? Was the LUN you're connecting to created by Snapdrive? If not, you will need to prepare the LUN so SnapDrive can manage it and procedure is in the IAG. As a test, try to create a new volume, create a new lun with snapdrive, and see if same error exists. If yes, Please contact NGS and open a ticket as they may be able to assist you if it is a issue with the software or with NPIV support.

Check out the OCPM IAG. The IAG has more details on the monitors and you can customize the overrides to match your environment or completely disable. Keep in mind that if you disable them you will not get any alerts if an actual issue arrises. Data ONTAP: Volume Latency Rule This rule triggers an alert based on when the average volume latency exceeds a critical threshold. This rule runs by default every 30 minutes. Data ONTAP: LUN Latency Rule This rule triggers an alert based on when the average LUN latency exceeds a critical threshold (default 500ms and 1000ms). This rule runs by default every hour. I couldn't find anything about the Controller latency monitor but there is a report which should be similar. Data ONTAP Controller Average System Latency Report Displays the average I/O or network latency of the top five userconfigurable storage controllers over a specific period of time. The default time period is from the first day of the month to the current day. This report assists you to determine if you can load-balance more effectively.

Malcompenn is right, last time I checked SDW 6.3 didn't support NPIV so previous versions would definitely not be supported. There were discussions to possibly add to the roadmap in future releases but don't think its in 6.4 either.

I'm not the resident expert but in my lab I always separate my mgmt ports and data ports regardless of vfiler or physical. There is a multistore guide that may have more info on how to setup for your environment. http://now.netapp.com/NOW/knowledge/docs/ontap/rel736/pdfs/ontap/vfiler.pdf also here - http://now.netapp.com/NOW/knowledge/docs/bpg/ontap_plat_stor/data_avail.shtml

Hi Lyndon, Just wanted to check if you've opened a support case with NGS so they can begin tracking this issue. Internally we've already started a discussion on this thread but need NGS involved so they can help us collect logs and raise priority to dev/qa if needed. If you've got a case open, would you mind sending me a PM with the case# and owner? Thanks, Allan
