Minimum Hot Spare Count?

Hi,

We have 24 SSD's in our AFF-A200. We wanted to use one hot spare while we were configuring the aggregate,  but we could not set it to less than two. Of course, having a sufficient amount of hot spare is always the best practice. However, since each disk has relative a large capacity, we also need to compromise on the efficiency of the capacity so we could have more usable capacity. I wonder if it's possible to have only one hot spare.

On the A200, you'll have 1 "physical"  disk used as a spare.  But due to RD2 (root-data-data) partitioning,  the spare partitions will be spread out throughout the filer.

So, I assume that it is possible to have a hot spare disk. Currently, we have 2 physical disks are used as hot spares. Can I assign one of them into the data partition?

can you also post the following output "storage disk show -partition-ownership"

not sure what happened to the other comment you made,  but it looks like you have 2 disks that are owned and  "whole" and not partitioned, at most you should only have one i believe if a disk should ever fail.     what happens if you try and grow an aggr?

See the attached image,  it'll show visually how an AFF with 1 shelf of disks should look.
