Hi Team,

Whether NetApp FAS, AFF, ASA uses Hardware Based RAID controllers? or it is handled by ONTAP itself?

ONTAP uses software RAID and all logic for it is within ONTAP.

NetApp has always used software raid.

NetApp is the only company where the file system and RAID and the operating system were designed where they all know about one another from the very beginning. Raid wasn’t an afterthought, it wasn’t “bolted” on like other players
