DFM backup with unlimited retention

Hello,

Using DFM 4.0.1 I happen to have unwanted backup on some dataset with unlimited retention that I want to get rid of:

# dfpm backup list 91205

Backup Id Backup Version        Retention Type Node Name            Description

--------- --------------------- -------------- -------------------- -----------------------------------

   177805 11 Apr 2012 03:10:07  daily          Backup

   177645 10 Apr 2012 03:10:02  daily          Backup

   177489 09 Apr 2012 03:10:05  daily          Backup

   ...

   175789 29 Mar 2012 03:10:06  daily          Backup

   175640 28 Mar 2012 03:10:02  daily          Backup

    65152 11 Jul 2011 15:51:13  unlimited      Backup

Backup 65152 for example is to be deleted. There are no more snapshots corresponding to that backup on the secondary filer's volume.

I tried to suppress the backup using the "secondary space management wizard" from nmc but could not find any reference of that old backup.

Is there a way to delete of change the retention type of a backup ?

Thanks,

Vincent

Hi,

Did you check out the documentation and other knowledge provided in the new search on the NetApp Support Site?  If you have a NetApp SSO account login use this link http://support.netapp.com/

Hello Mike,

I checked both the support site and the community site but could not find a clear answer to my question. According to an article (can't find the ref again) it might not be possible to delete a backup using CLI (no command such as dfpm backup delete or expire). The same article indicated that backup deletion is possible using the secondary space management wizard from nmc but I could not find how as my backup is no more associated to a existing snapshot.

Regards,

Vincent

Hi,

This maybe a bit too specific a problem for the communities.  Did you do a search on the new NetApp Support Site?  It may not find anything but the new search does include the Knowledgebase and other sources of information.

Hello,

I did check the NetApp Support Site but could not find this tip I am looking for. I guess I'll have to open a case.

Thanks,

Vincent
