You are right, but I would prefer to see all possible “options”, regardless if they are licensed, enabled or disabled….

Feedback for 2.0R1 on Win32
I am unable to set a "space guarantee=file" when I create a SAN (or NFS) volume. I could do this on System Manager V1 though, but it seems to be missing on V2. The only option I get is 'thin provisioned" - which turns off space guarantee. If I leave that disabled, it sets "space guarantee=volume". Neither are what i need -- so I have to go back to using V1 instead.
Hi amritad,

Are there specific issues that you are running into? If you could give me a list that would be very helpful.
Thanks for your help and support.

Hi Amrita,
do you know if the new version will support vfiler at least for quota definitions?
It will be a really nice functionality that will make any Windows administrator really happy (it already works but it just not supported)..
Regards
Francesco
I've seen several questions about when a shared web environment will be available but no estimated dates. I was wondering if there is even a quarter it is targeted for? I was also wanting to know if the supported server side OS was the same as running the local client package?
I generally only user FilerView for Aggregate and volume creation just because of the number of things that need to be specified. Everything else I do from the command line. The rest of our team doesn't work with the NetApps enough and they use FV almost exclusively. I've been delaying a rollout of 8.1 because there is no FV. The added hassles and complexity of installing it locally on all our laptops and linux desktops, or setting up a common account somewhere and having to VNC into that from various clients is annoying. Life was much simpler with FV.
Jeff
Hi,
would be cool if it would be possible to add a folder structure on the OnCommand System manager´s HOME Page to structure the filer systems based on location or customer name...
Hi, i'am still missing full vFiler-Support.
Either it should be posible to see/change/create things like shares and permissions via the masternode (vfiler0 - like "vfiler XY run ...").
Or it should be possible to connect to the vfiler with the System Manager directly.
Otherwise i'am uing the System Manager 2.0 successfully.
The current version of System Manager does not have vFiler management capability. We plan to include it in the next version of System Manager.

Any timeline for the new version?

Will future releases be supporting 64 bit? The RedHat server only allows 32 bit OS, java, and Firefox, and only supports Firefox3. I can't believe many linux shops running RHEL5 are running 32 bit anything.
Thanks,
Jeff
Hi
I have been using System Manager 2.0R1 for alittle while at work now and im happy in away when i finally gotten the hang of it and what you can use it for.
but im wondering, as i have some verry strange issues with the Columns inside the different choices.
lets say i want to take a look at my CIFS shares but when i get that window up, i cant read what the shares are or anything.
all the columns are all together all the way to the left side of the window
as shown on the picture.
i have tried. IE, Firefox and Chrome but its the same on them all.
reinstalled System Manager again but still the same.
i have a Windows 7 64bit laptop i use for this application.
but i understand it should be working fine for that to.
has anyone else experienced this issue with the application ?
i have tried making the columns bigger but the text at the top doesnt show then.
double clicking like in excell doesnt work either :s
I'am using the actual firefox on WinXP64 and have no such issues.
But aren't you able to adjust the width of the colums with your mouse?
I can change the colums without problem.
Hi
Yeah i tried it. but its still the same.
these colums, are there any settings in windows controlling how these should be viewed ?
Hello.
We are using OnCommand System Manager 2.0 (2.0R1) with a FAS3040 and a FAS3140.
In the FAS3140 we have a volume whose details seem to be strange, we think inconsistent due to a bug. I include a screeshot.
We can see that the used data space is a negative value and that the snapshot space is bigger than the actual size of the volume (the snap reserve is 20%). None of the volumes in the same aggregate are using Thin Provisioning.
If we take a look at the output from the command line, it seems that there is something wrong in the way the figures are calculated:
filerb1> df -h groups
Filesystem total used avail capacity Mounted on
/vol/groups/ 8601GB 8439GB 161GB 98% /vol/groups/
/vol/groups/.snapshot 2150GB 5450GB 0KB 253% /vol/groups/.snapshot
Don't you think it could be a bug?
I can provide extra data if you need it.
Thanks in advance.
Regards.
Jesus Sanchez
Hi Jesus,
Can you please set the debug mode to trace and collect support bundle and mail it to karthikv@netapp.com ?
Thanks,
Karthik
How to generate Support bundle?
Setting log level:
Tools -> Options -> Log level
Generating Support Bundle
Help -> Support Bundle -> Generate support bundle link
Hi Karthik.
I have set the log level to 'TRACE' and I have tried to generate the support bundle clicking on the link
Click here to generate the file that appears when you go to Help -> Support Bundle.
The system tries to access this URL:
http://127.0.0.1:8080/supportBundleServlet/SystemManagerSupportBundle.zip
but then it appears the following error:
Problem accessing /supportBundleServlet/SystemManagerSupportBundle.zip. Reason:
NOT_FOUND
Powered by Jetty://
And after that the OnCommand System Manager application hangs and I need to restart it again if I want to use it.
Does it mean that the OnCommand System Manger is not properly installed or it is a wrong version? Or do I need to do anything else apart from changing the log level and tell the tool to generate a support bundle.
Regards.

Good news.
I recently instaled Oncommand System Manager 2.0.1 and the problem dissapeared.
Hello there. Quick question and I apologize if this is the wrong thread.
Installed Systems Manager 2.0 on a Windows 2008 R2 (64bit) system and when I connect to it via IE8 all I receive is a blue background page. It never fully loads. I installed Firefox 9 on the same server and it works just fine. I would assume the issue is related to IE8 then. Any pointers or clues to why IE8 is not working correctly when trying to load Systems Manager? Keep in mind this server was recently built and has no problem that I am aware of.
Double check you have,
• Adobe Flash Player 8.0 or later
• 32-bit Sun Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6
Note: It is best to use 32-bit Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 update 24 or later.
Also double check you have all the latest patches for s2k8.
