Operations Manager mail relay host?

Does DFM use the local MTA installed on the system to transport mail? I find that it is not the case, as my Postfix relayhost is correctly configured, however DFM says this:

May 08 10:34:04 [dfmeventd:ERROR]: alarm 2, event 4821: failed to deliver email alert xxxx@xxxx.edu

How can I set a relayhost for DFM?

Thank you

Within OM, you can set FROM in the GUI.

Setup -> Events and Alerts -> "From field in email and page alerts" You can also set the mail server here.

I'm pretty sure you just put the mail host within the standard setup options of DFM. For a local relay it depends whether it'll respond to "localhost" or if you need to use the FQDN of the localhost.

I was able to set the option (thank you) but now it looks like DFM does not set a  "from" envelope header:

May  8 14:27:02 pandora postfix/smtpd[20694]: 27A493F6E: client=xxx
May  8 14:27:02 pandora postfix/cleanup[20735]: 27A493F6E: message-id=<xxxx>
May  8 14:27:02 pandora postfix/qmgr[4483]: 27A493F6E: from=<>, size=1371, nrcpt=1 (queue active)
May  8 14:27:02 pandora postfix/smtp[20736]: 27A493F6E: to=<xxxxx>, relay=xxxxx, delay=0, status=bounced (host xxxxx] said: 571 Domain does not accept delivery report messages (in reply to RCPT TO command))

Is there any way to populate this FROM header?

hi sean,

which version of dfm are you talking about?

There is no such GUI page as you mention from 3.4.1 till 3.7.1 AFAIK.

I think you are meaning the Alarms page under setup ?

Still they dont have the options to change the from address of email.

thanks

Just can confirm that this is where I set smtp server & from address as well....never had any problems with it.

By default, DataFabric Manager uses the local system name in the email from address and web links present in alert e-mail messages sent.To change it use

the following command.

$ dfm option set localHostName=<name>

Thanks Adaikkappan,

My relay was configured correctly but would not work until I set the localhostname using your commands above.

     - It was previously blank

eg:

C:\Users\admin.c>dfm option set localhostname=NetappDFMServer

Note: "NetappDFMServer" is an arbitrary name that is not used anywhere.

Cheers, have a great day

- Chris.
