Register a NetApp Controller into 2 DFM servers

Hi Folk,

Anyone could tell me whether one NetApp Controller can be registered into 2 DFM servers?

I think about 2 purposes of doing that:

1. A controller managed by a customer with DFM server and supervised by a hosting provider      with his own DFM server
2. A controller      on a remote site managed by a local DFM server for local      backups (for instantce with OSSV or local snapshots) and managed by a central DFM server for SnapMirror      replication

Hello Mathias,

     You can always register a Netapp Contoller to 2(  or more ) DFM servers. There is no such restriction on how many DFM servers can monitor and manage a single NetApp Server. Your use case is fine.

Make sure you are not doing active management like a dataset in both DFM server where volume from the same filer is added.

You may end up creating or deleting backup version by both DFM server and update too.

Similarly you will receive alerts for the same filer from both the DFM server.
