Storage service not available for virtual Dataset

Hi,

For some strange reasons, I can't attach storage service to virtual Dataset when it contains a protection type Mirror DR. It just not appears in the dropbox list on Netapp onCommand Console.

Somebody can explain what is wrong there.

Hi,

OnCommand 5.0 doesn't support DR protection policies for virtual datasets. Thats why the storage services with DR protection policies are not getting listed.

Are you sure, what is the reason can you explain?

Because I found a workaround that seems to work:

- attach the storage service to Virtual Dataset with no protection policy

- Changed Storage Service to DR Mirror. Conformance and backup works now correctly.

The validation of not allowing DR storage services is done while attaching a storage service. That's why you are able to modify the storage service with DR Policy and this might be a minor issue.

DR(for Virtual dataset) is not targeted for OC 5.0. Thats why you will not see any buttons/options in OnCommand to perform DR failover for virtual datasets (As shown in NMC dataset page for physical dataset).

I don't understand why this feature was not implemented in this version, but It's clear now thank you.
