Hello,
I have problem with the following message:
There are not enough spare disks. /aggr0/plex0/rg1: Please add spare disks supporting block checksums with minimum size: Used: 136000/278528000 (MB/blks)
I found 2 faulty HDDs (136 GB/15k rpm).
After plugging two new HDDs (274 GB/15k rpm) the disks looks fine and ready but the above warning message did not disappear.
There are screenshots and logs attached.
Please help,
Thanks in advance.

Go to NOW and then to the Disk Firmware section in the Download menu.
The direct link is https://now.netapp.com/cgi-bin/diskfwmustread.cgi/download/tools/diskfw/bin/all
Howerver you may just need to update the disk qualification packages found here https://now.netapp.com/download/tools/diskqual/. I recommend doing this first.

Have they been assigned to the controller yet? Are they showing as spares? Or as unowned?

Hi,
thanks for you reply.
As shown in the attached trace (Filers.zip), they are shown as spare.

Filer1 is okay. The problem is filer2.
From your attachment I can aggr0 on filer2 is made up of 144GB 15k FC disks.
There are two spare disks on filer2, both are 300GB 10k FC drives.
Because the drives are 10k they won't be substituted with a 144GB 15k drive in case of failure.
However I believe these drives are 15k drives (Hitachi Viper-C 300 GB 15k RPM FC) but the system is only seeing them as 10k drives. You may need to upgrade the disk firmware to NA02 for the controller to recognise them as 15k drives.
Once you update the firmware and the system recognises them as 15k drives the low spare warning will go away.

Hi Jonathon,
thank you very much for answer 🙂
Can you please tell me how to upgrade disk firmware to NA02 for the controller?
Is there some how-to manual?
