With FlexShare enabled, and set to non-defaults for 2 of 20 volumes, I have set priority for *all* volumes as per "FlexShare Design and Implementation Guide TR-3459".
I get data on all volumes when I run "stats show priorityqueue" on the filer, however I dont get any graphs in Performance Advisor ( NetApp Management Console ), when historical ( 1 hour ) selected, although I do see graphs when "real time" is selected.
I have restarted DFM services, in case it was needed to refresh the counters.
Comments/suggestions welcome...
OnTap 8.0.1P3 7-Mode
DFM 4.0.2.7803 (4.0.2)
Priority Queue - Data Collection Settings
Performance Advisor - Priority Queue - Historical ( 1 hour )
Performance Advisor - Priority Queue - Real Time
thanks!
Rick
Looks as though priority counters are enabled and have up to date records on the DFM server, so just need to get them to display in the PA graphs?

Hi Rick,
Can you try turning on the following options ?
perfAdvisorShowAllViews | Disabled |
perfAdvisorShowDiagCounters | Disabled |
Regards
adai
Hi Adai,
The options were already enabled. Real-time view of Volume - QOS ( priority queue ) does display graphs, but Historical ( 1 hour ) does not ( particularly for pq_usr_sched_total and pq_sys_sched_total ). I wonder if it could be a bug with DFM v4.0.2.7803 (4.0.2)?
C:\Windows\system32>dfm option list |findstr perfAdvisor
perfAdvisorEnabled Enabled
perfAdvisorMaxMonitorThreads 32
perfAdvisorPollInterval 5 minutes
perfAdvisorShowAllViews Enabled
perfAdvisorShowDiagCounters Enabled
perfAdvisorTransport httpsOk
What version of DOT is your controllers running ?
Regards
adai
controllers are running 8.0.1P3 7-Mode
and DFM includes the installed plugin "Storage System Config 8.0.1 (8.0.1P3) - storage systems and vFilers"
Hi Rick,
Thanks for the details. BTW AFAIK, plugins are not required for PA capability. Only the config managment capability for Filer and vFiler require plugins to mange the options on the controller and some config files.
Regards
adai
Hi Adai,
Thanks for the info on plugins. This is a simple environment, with four 6210s ( two A/A pairs ), all running the same DOT, only serving NFS at the moment.
I looked at "Performance Settings" settings for Performance Advisor, and wondered if the "Average" radio button in "Computation Type for Views" should be changed to "Maximum". I found it strange that the radio buttons do not behave as expected, as shown below, the radio buttons "None", "Average" and "Maximum" can be selected simultaneously?
Regards,
Rick
Rick,
You don't need to change any performance settings, I did try to create a similar custom view choosing the same counters as you have opted for and I can see both the historical and real time data with out any issues.
Moreover I am using Oncommand 5.0 version.
Kindly let me know if we can have a WebEx session to take this issue further to debug?
Regards,
-Seshu
Hi Seshu,
I would appreciate a WebEx. Does the offer still stand if we are running the IBM N-Series / Management Console?
Regards,
Rick
Rick,
Let me give a try ..at this moment I can not say what is the difference with N-series as I have never worked on N-series box.
Regards,
-Seshu
Hi Rick,
N-Series or FAS shouldn't make any difference. Yes still seshu offer is valid and holds good.
Regards
adai
Rick,
Let me know your free time tomorrow or any other day for WebEx session, I work in Netapp Bangalore and I am available from 9 AM IST - 10 PM IST.
Regards,
-Seshu
Hi!
Did you find any way to fix this?
I'm trying to to get graphs for FlexShare counters, but NMC is not drawing anything.
