iSCSI and FC Direct Attached implementations

Hello everyone.

Sorry if my question is to basic.... I´m new in NetApp world...

I think i've seen in some document that iscsi and fc implementatios as DAS have some limitations.

My question is simple. In iSCSI and FC as DAS, is multipathing and active/active configurations supported?

Thanks.

For iSCSI I think you need a switch. So not direct attach. For FC, yes to both multipath and active/active. Thanks,   -Wei

Hi and welcome to the forums!

You'll find all relevant info in this doc (providing you are on ONTAP 7.3.x):

http://now.netapp.com/NOW/knowledge/docs/san/fcp_iscsi_config/QuickRef/fc_iscsi_config_guide.pdf

In particular, re iSCSI on page 21 - "Direct-attached configurations are not supported in active/active configurations."

Regards,

Radek
