Hello,
We have a customer who is looking to Protect its existing Oracle DB on Virtual Linux Servers on VMware
The VM Hosts is connected to the data thru FCP using RDMS.
I think SDU doesnt support this env officially, but could it work?
Thanks in advance,
Best,
Mauricio

Hi,
I don't think it will work.
SnapDrive needs to be aware of the virtualisation stack to see & manage RDMs - that is exactly the case with SDW 6.2 which supports both FC & iSCSI RDMs. Prior to SDW 6.1 the only solution was to use software iSCSI initiator from the guest OS, because it looks & behaves identically in both virtual & physical environment.
So this is my understanding of the current state of play with SDU - software initiator is a must, because SDU is still not virtualisation-aware.
Regards,
Radek
