SnapCenter Plug-in for VMware Backup of Consistency Groups and Volumes

In an iSCSI datastore based VMware environment, we are working with VM tags for backup in SnapCenter. There are datastores in an CG and some without the need for SM-BC. The backup only works if all VMs are either on volumes in CG or on the volumes without. Is the there a limitation in SnapCenter Plug-in for VMware with LUNs in CGs and some without? Do I have to maintain dedicated tags for VMs in CG? All VMs and datastores are mounted to the same VMware cluster. In SnapCenter we have one Resource Groups with the VM tag as selector.

Hello,

The CG is for an SMBC relationship ?

Keep in mind, the SnapCenter Plugin is made for interact with Vcenter and ask a VMware snapshot to VMs

You need to select the VMs, by :  Datastore, VM or Tags to "backup" it

Hi, yes the CG is for SMBC.
This is understood. We have the problem that snapshots are not possible if in the same job volumes in the CG and volumes not in a CG are triggered. The SnapCenter job will fail.

We have product version 5.0P3 (Build 5.0.0.6246326)

The error we got was "Error: Unable to discover resources on SCV: Error: Failed to determine storage system for the LUN"

In the policies setting, can you try the include datastore with independent disk ?
