Hi, hope someone can help..

Im trying to use the "add servers to be managed" option in order to add my SMSQL on a 2 node cluster but have encountered the following problems when trying to use any of the commands:

When i try to add SQL server and use Windows authentication, the wizards returns with the following;

Failed to connect to SQL Server "SERVERNAME". verify the log in credentials.
You may only perform restore operation. Please start the SQL server you are connecting to, and snapmanager willalso try to start the SQL server during the restore if it is stopped.

Details: Error Code 0xC0040804 Failed to connect to the specified SQL server

This happens on both servers in the Cluster, I know the windows credentials have admin rights, Ive tried the SA account but this doesnt help either.

any help would be great.

Mark

You try to connect to the physical cluster nodes or to the virtual sql server identities?

I get the same error, I connect to the SQL Cluster Name, not directly to the nodes.

I created a domain service account just for SMSQL (I didn't use the SnapDrive service account) and gave it the sysadmin role for the SQL Server instance I wanted to manage with SMSQL.  Then I added that server/instance to the SMSQL console.  Of course, that account also needed to be a local admin on the Windows box.  Then you can log in to the Windows box with the SMSQL service account and manage the SMSQL console for that particular server.

Cheers,

Mike
